Date: Sat 8 May
Time: 10am - 12
Venue: Sophie Perez Art Studio - Mornington.
Over the course of two hours Sarah will walk you through all the techniques that you need to create a simple sterling silver ring.
In this class you will learn to size rings, create a simple ring band, learn to file, shape and polish a ring, and may choose from elements you would like to add to your design. Ring bands created in this class are sterling silver, and up to 3mm wide. If you prefer a chunky ring, you may want to look at the introduction to creating chunky rings.
We will start by measuring your ring size, and then choosing the design that you would like to create. Techniques that we will use include hammering to provide texture, filing soldering and finishing your ring. At the end of the class you will have a completed you ring to wear.
All tools and materials required on the day will be provided it is recommended that you wear old clothes and covered shoes as he will be working with heavy tools. No experience is required for this class. This class does not include stone setting. Stone setting will be provided later in the year at an advanced class.
If you have a design or idea please contact me before the workshop to make sure we have time to bring this to life.
You will learn hands on how to use different tools, and techniques to create your piece.
Sarah has a laid back teaching style, when she first handled tools she was nervous and a little bit concerned about burning holes in the carpet, or not being strong enough. With most tools a light touch is enough to create your work.
